His research interests include virtual reality, mixed reality, and extended reality technologies, with a focus on immersive network technology and 3D modeling. He has authored multiple technical papers and holds several national invention patents. Liu is also involved in innovative projects, including the Pengcheng Cloud Brain initiative, aimed at advancing computing infrastructure.
